Periodontology

It is the branch of science that deals with inflammatory diseases caused by dental tissues and surrounding tissues and their treatment.

Periodontitis disease; It is an inflammatory type characterized by the destruction of teeth and tooth-supporting tissue (periodontal ligament, cementum, alveolar bone). Gingivitis has progressed to the alveolar bone (jaw bone). The main cause is bacterial plaques, which can be treated mechanically. It can be seen that genetic, environmental and systematic factors play a role in the cause of the disease. Epilepsy, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, Down syndrome, AIDS and blood diseases can also be counted among systemic factors.

Bleeding gums are the first symptom of common periodontal diseases. Red gums are swollen and have a shiny surface. Often, these symptoms may include bad breath, itching in the gums, a feeling of bleeding, and sensitivity in the teeth.
